How to Host a Virtual Pajama Party
Who says you can't party safely during quarantine? My friends and I recently hosted a virtual party where we watched movies, played games, ate snacks and made crafts. Here are some ideas for if you want to host your own virtual party!
Ideas for Activities
Play Games Together
We enjoyed playing a few games from Jackbox! Only one person from the group needed a Jackbox Party Pack for all of us to play. One of our favorites is from Party Pack 5 called Patently Stupid where the object of the game is to improvise a presentation for an invention that solves a ridiculous problem. Drawful 2 is another popular choice! These games are super fun for family game nights too! If you are new to Jackbox games, this helpful video explains how it all works.
Watch a Movie & Eat Snacks
One of our favorite activities of the evening was watching WALL-E on Disney+ simultaneously while chatting with one another! The Netflix Party Chrome extension has expanded to include several other streaming services, and has recently been renamed to Teleparty. This extension for Chrome worked very well for us!
Make Some Crafts
Not only did we enjoy making crafts, but we used the opportunity to do an act of kindness too! Since Valentine's Day was approaching, we made several cards to give to assisted living residents to help brighten their day. During the party, we each crafted one or two cards together, but within the next couple of days following the party, we each crafted several more. We gave everyone a full week before collecting the cards to later distribute.
Recommended Resources:
- Teleparty Chrome Extension - I love this Chrome extension for watching movies from streaming services with friends online. One things to note, however, is that all of your party guests need to have access to the same streaming service. In our case, we all had Disney+ accounts. However, many streaming services offer free trial periods.
- Jackbox Games - Some FUN family-friendly online games here!! We used the screen share function in Zoom so we could all play together. This video explains how it all works.
